Itinerary


Day 1: Bagdogra - Phuntsholing

After arriving at airport/railway station, we will hit the road towards Bhutan border town, Phuntsholing which is a 3 hours and 30 minutes drive. The road passes through beautiful tea plantations and national parks on both the sides. We will reach Phuntsholing by evening and take a walk around in the town. Overnight in Phuntsholing.


Hotel: Pelling Resort or similar

Day 2: Phuntsholing - Thimphu

After breakfast, we will move out and complete the immigration formalities. All the travelers are required at the permit office as they scan your fingerprints and take a photograph. Later we will take a bus to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive to Thimphu is long but beautiful one. We will reach Thimphu by late evening. After checking in to the hotel, we will stroll around the city, buy some souvenirs or try some local dishes.

Day 3: Thimphu

We have the full day to explore Thimphu. We will head to the Buddha point to see one of the largest Buddha statues in the  world. Spend some time here looking at the gorgeous view of Thimphu city and valley. Later, we will go and see the Takin, Bhutan's National animal. Smell and taste authentic local and regional specialties at Centenary Farmers Market. Other places of interest like Memorial Chorten, Painting School, Tashichho Dzong, Traditional paper making factory.

Day 4: Thimphu - Punakha

Start the day with a good breakfast, after which we will head towards our next destination, Punakha. On the way, we will stop at Dochula Pass (3100 m) which overlooks some of the highest mountains in Bhutan. Here you can see 108 Dochula Chortens
built to honor the victory of Bhutanese army in 2003 war of Bhutan. We will visit Punakha Dzong, which is one of the most majestic structures in Bhutan. Take a walk on the largest suspension bridge in the country and get mesmerized by the clean and fast flowing river right below you. We will hike to Chimi Lhakhang village.

Overnight at a home stay in Chimi Lhakhang village.

 

Day 5: Punakha - Paro

After breakfast at our homestay, we will visit Wangdue Dzong. We will take a taxi and drive to the picturesque Paro town, in the beautiful Paro valley surrounded by the Himalayan range. It is the best place for the nature lover and those seeking a peaceful time. After a sumptuous lunch, we will visit Paro Dzong and National Museum. You can roam around in Paro and visit some cafes, souvenir shops or sit near the Paro river and lose yourself in nature.


Overnight in a Farm House or Janka Resort.

Day 6: Paro - Haa

After an early breakfast, we will move out to visit Taktsang Monastery, famously known as the Tiger's Nest. It is located at the face of a sheer 1000m cliff. It is the most famous destination in Bhutan which requires a good 2 and a half hour hike, most of which is through a forest. After lunch, we will take a taxi to Haa via Chele la pass, one of the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. Haa’s major feature is the Haa valley. It is a culturally rich valley and you will get the best local experience while your stay here.


Overnight: Individual homestay at private homes in Haa.
**Entire group will be divided into smaller groups of 2 or 3 each, for a stay in private homes.

Day 7: Haa valley

Today we will hike up and stay overnight at a village where you will be one of the first travelers to visit. (we are keeping you in suspense by not revealing the name of the village)
After breakfast, we will take a drive to Bitekha Dzong. Later, we will hike for 30 minutes to reach our remote village, where you can relieve stress and relax in hot stone baths. This village is the highlight of our trip and fulfills the desire of urbanites to connect with the rural countryside. Interact with local farmers and spend the day experiencing rural life.


Overnight at a homestay in the village.

Day 8: Haa - Phuntsholing

Wake up to the sounds of farm life. You can try your hands at making cottage cheese, gardening, milking the cows or  churning the milk. You can also learn to cook Bhutanese dishes with fresh vegetables straight from the garden outside. Later, we drive back to the border town of Phuntsholing.

Day 9: Phuntsholing - Bagdogra

We will head back to Bagdogra for flight/train to our respective home cities. Here, we will end our trip with some good memories of the happiest place in the world.

We totally understand that unforeseen circumstances might need you to change plans, and so our cancellation policy makes it easier to do that.
  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trip — full refund.
  • Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the trip — 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of the trip — no refund.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions, government restrictions or any other unavoidable circumstances beyond the control of the host, certain activities during the expedition or the event itself may be cancelled, or there could be change in the itinerary. In such cases, the host will try their best to provide an alternate feasible activity or a voucher will be handed over (in case of cancellation or rescheduling of event) to you. However no refund will be provided for the same.

In case the trip is cancelled by the host for lack of minimum number of people in the batch, you will get a full refund.
