(Transfers from kigwema homestay to hornbill venue is not included because we wanted to keep a flexibility of staying in the venue as long as one wants) Private cabs are readily available and will cost not more than Rs 200 one way.

Detailed Itinerary of Closing Hornbill Festival 2019

START
DAY 1

Dimapur Railway Station to Khonoma

4 hour drive (87 kms)

Trip starts at Dimapur Station at 6:30 am.

We will reach Khonoma Village around 10:30 am.

Today is the day for cultural exploration as we will observe the naga life closely, learn about their rich history and meet the oldest lady of the village.

Dinner and overnight stay at a homestay.

Travel Tip : Fly to Guwahati on 5th December, 2019 on any flight that lands by 9 pm. Take the 11:30 pm train to Dimapur (Train Number 15603 Nagaland Express).

DAY 2

A day of re-living the pre digital era

1 hour drive (18 kms)

Today you can wake up late, as its a lazy day by design.

After breakfast, we will drive to a village with no network. The drive will be slow with a lot of stops (We were not kidding when we said its a lazy day).

We will meet the village people, take a stroll in their fields and go for a short hike to the waterfall. We will have lunch in between these activities.

Later we will pick some fresh vegetables from the farm and will take them back to the campsite or homestay that we are staying at.

Dinner and overnight stay at a campsite or homestay.

DAY 3

Trek to the mighty Dzukou Valley

30 min drive, 4 hour easy trek

After breakfast, we will pack light (a day bag) and drive to the Vishwema Village.

Vishwema Village is the starting point for the Dzukou Valley trek.

Lunch will be served on the way/once you reach (as per the time).

We spend the evening at leisure along a bonfire.

Dinner and overnight stay at a camp/dormitory.

DAY 4

A day into the wild and night at Hornbill festival

30 min drive, 4 hour easy trek

You can go for a morning hike to explore the valley a bit more.

Post breakfast, we will start our journey back latest by 10:30 am.

Lunch will be served at the homestay after which you can attend the festival again.

DAY 5

The Grand Closing of Hornbill Festival

Hurray! No commute today :D

After breakfast, we will do a 2 hour long Kigwema Village walk.

Rest, have unlimited Lal chai (red tea) before you head for the festival ground to witness the grand closing of the festival.

Overnight stay at a Hotel.

Fly back home

5-6 hour drive (105 kms)

Due to limited connectivity, we only have an option of catching the 12:40 flight from Dimapur.

The car will thus, leave for the airport at 7:00 am sharp.

Travel Tip: Fly out of Dimapur from 12:40 pm flight. It's a connecting flight via Kolkata to all the major cities in India. You can alternatively choose to take an overnight train from Dimapur to Guwahati and fly out from Guwahati on the 12th.

We totally understand that unforeseen circumstances might need you to change plans, and so our cancellation policy makes it easier to do that.
  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trip — full refund.
  • Cancellation between 30 days and 15 days to the start of the trip — 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 15 days to the start of the trip — no refund.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions, government restrictions or any other unavoidable circumstances beyond the control of the host, certain activities during the expedition or the event itself may be cancelled, or there could be change in the itinerary. In such cases, the host will try their best to provide an alternate feasible activity or a voucher will be handed over (in case of cancellation or rescheduling of event) to you. However no refund will be provided for the same.

In case the trip is cancelled by the host for lack of minimum number of people in the batch, you will get a full refund.
