Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Chandigarh, spread over 40 acres, is the largest rose garden in Asia. It is a host to approximately 50,000 rose-bushes of more than 800 different species and medicinal plants like bel, bahera, harar etc. Named after Dr Zakir Hussain, the 3rd President of India, the garden was established in 1967.
The Garden hosts an annual three day Rose Festival in February. The festival was started to encourage people to value the creations of nature, especially the beautiful roses. However, the festival is not only about Roses. One can find handicrafts, cultural performances, and amazing food at the venue during the festival.
