The Dwarkadhish temple also known as the Jagat Mandir, dedicated to God Krishna is believed to be 2000 years old according to the archaeological findings of various studies on the temple. The sacred temple is located in Dwarka. The main shrine of the 5 stories temple building is supported by 72 pillars.
According to tradition, the original temple was believed to have been built by Vajranabha, Krishna’s grandson. The temple is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site and is a part of the Char Dham Yatra.
As per Hindu legend, Dwarka was built on a piece of land, that was reclaimed from the sea by Krishna. The Bet Dwarka or Shankhodhar is an inhabited island at the mouth of Gulf of Kutch.
