Known by locals as the Parrot Park, Shuka Vana in Mysuru has over 2000 birds in its premises at a time. It has set the record for the "Most bird species in an aviary" by having 486 bird species in the park, certified by the Guinness World Records. The place is a home to a large number of exotic parrots, macaws and parakeets. The enclosure is built on a one and a half acre piece of land and has a roof about fifty feet high, where the birds make their dwellings.
The park is a part of the Avadoota Datta Peetham in the Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Ashram. Swami Ganapathi Sachidananda has taught the birds to be welcoming and amicable. The centre also houses a bird hospital where injured and in need, birds are cared for, before being admitted into the park.
