Nohkalikai Falls, located about 7 km from Cherrapunjee, is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. There is a beautiful plunge pool at the bottom of the waterfall with an unusual green colour. Plunge waterfalls are the type of waterfalls in which the water descends vertically, thus losing contact with the bedrock. The waterfall is named after Likai — a woman that jumped from the cliff of the waterfall according to the local folklore.
