Feni, the local goan liquor, is made by fermenting ________.
- Cashew Apple
- Cashew Nut
Feni, the local goan liquor, is produced and sold exclusively in Goa. There are two varieties of Feni - Cashew Feni, and Palm Feni. Cashew Feni is made by crushing and fermenting the fruit of the cashew plant, also known as Cashew Apple. Cashew Feni is distilled only from Feb to May, and is thus a seasonal drink.
Apart from Feni, Goa is famous for its Port Wine. The portuguese drink is basically a sweeter grape wine, fortified by adding brandy while the grapes haven’t fully fermented. Adding the brandy stops fermentation, thereby leaving some sugar in the wine, and also increases the alcoholic content of the wine.
