Football is the state sport of Goa. People joke that if you are in Goa and you throw a stone it will either land in a bar or a Chapel or a football ground. India hosted the first-ever Unity World Cup in Goa, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The Fatorda Stadium, also known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, is the only international stadium in Goa.
In addition to the ISL club FC Goa, there have been four prominent Goan football clubs - Dempo SC, Vasco SC, Salgaocar SC and Churchill Brothers SC. Till date, these clubs have won the National Football League, Federation Cup, Durand Cup and Rovers Cup.
