Masquerade Festival
The Masquerade Festival is a traditional dance festival that is celebrated in Puducherry just before the Lent season. A vivid proof of conglomeration of the French Culture with that of Tamil, this popular festival witnesses hoards of visitors from all over the world. People from all ages wear a great assortment of masks of humans, animals and devils and dance on the streets, accompanied by drums.
During the French time, it was a common practice. But slowly, this tradition seems to be dying out with only one club left that still organizes this festival.
