Which of the following is not found in the Spiti Valley?
- Red Fox
- Clouded Leopard
- Blue Sheep
Spiti Valley, despite being a cold desert, is a home to a large variety of flora and fauna. It is home to snow leopards, red-fox, ibex, yaks, himalayan blue sheep and many more.
Over the past few decades, the population of ibex, yaks, and himalayan blue sheep have declined due to unsustainable hunting and overgrazing of pastures by domestic livestock. To address this problem of the lack of prey for the endangered snow leopard, the Snow Leopard Trust partnered with a community in Kibber to set aside grazing reserves for wild species like Bharal (himalayan blue sheep). Although the benefit of the programme to snow leopard population is hard to document, the population of Bharal increased fourfold from 1998 to 2008.
