Hikkim is recognized as one amongst the highest inhabited places in India with people residing at a stretch of 4330 to 4400 meters. a place with the highest post office and polling station. For its polling station, it has also been registered in Limca Book of Records. Komic and Korzok, the neighboring villages, have residences till 4520 meters and 4570 meters, respectively throughout the year.
The houses here are built using stones. For almost half a year, the region of Hikkim village remains secluded from other places in view of heavy snowfall around the passes.
