The Victoria Memorial, a large marble building located in Kolkata was built between 1906 and 1921. The monument is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria. It is now used as a museum and tourist spot. This renowned marble structure beside the Maidan. The memorial is designed in an Indo-Saracenic style and has influences from the British and Mughal architecture.

On the central dome, a black figure named "Angel of Victory" is erected which rotates along with the wind. Makrana marbles were used to build the hall and were brought down from Rajasthan. The magnificent and lush green gardens for which Victoria is famously renowned for were created by Lord Redesdale and David Prain. Victoria Memorial is a treat for anyone who appreciates architecture.
